Dragonheart: Battle for the Heartfire

I saw a trailer that made me curious, although firmly aware that it was not going to be a good movie. It pretty much lived up to my expectations.I later found out it was the fourth in the series and that fact made a lot of sense. I had no real inclination to watch any of the movies that have come before. The sister made seriously dumb adolescent choices, but Patrick Stewart as the dragon was awesome. The wrong person definitely dies at the end. ***

He Even Has Your Eyes

I cried. Yes, it had an unrealistic resolution, but it had too much heart for me to care. The couple was lovely. I liked how it showed the new parent isolation and adjustment, even with how excited they were. The friend was delightful, and the plot moved along well, with the expected messes and some resolutions that stretched credulity. ****

The Saint

It came up on Netflix when I had nothing particular to watch and had Eliza Dusku in it. It really felt like a pilot, and I think I would have checked out the show, had it gone anywhere. That said, it was awhile between when I watched it and when I wrote my thoughts, and I had to watch a trailer because I remembered very little, which is never a good sign. Handsome, smart, and suave... very watchable, but not entirely distinguishing. ***

Downton Abbey

It's not the type of show I chose first off, because it's not the type I think I like. But really, I do. It took me awhile to get to it because I was watching other things more up my alley first, but I'm glad I finally did. It had beautiful characters. They were all people who I liked, even the ones that I didn't at first, won my over eventually. I found myself wishing for history to stop (even though I knew it was a drama in a time long gone) so their lives could continue unhindered (even though their way of life was terrible for everyone else). It was the perfect escape from my own stress, because their problems while often serious, had absolutely nothing in common with my own. I even liked the time jumps, which I normally loath. I wasn't too happy with the ending for Mary (the pig wrastling guy was clearly better), but the rest of it was satisfying. ****
